The weather was dreary, but that didn’t stop the track team from dominating in the Franklin Invitational this past Saturday. Congratulations to the boys team who place in first overall. Both boys and girls teams had several medal earners.
For the boys, Mikael Banaag placed 4th in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes, and 3rd in the 400 meter run. Shane Resta placed 6th in the 100 meter dash and 5th in the 200. The Pickers had two medal winners in the 800 meter run. Roman Rizzo placed 3rd with Jonah Crozier coming in a close 4th. Landon Greishaw finished in 3rd place in the 4oo meter run and Jacob Sank placed 2nd in the 3200 meter run. In the 100 meter hurdles, Isaac McGuigan was meet champion and Pascal Laporte placed 5th. In the 300 meter hurdles McGuigan placed 3rd and Kaiden Chandler placed 4th. The 4 x 800 boys relay placed 2nd. Carter Crozier was the champion in the long jump and Isaac McGuigan placed 4th. Mason Shunk placed 4th in the high jump, and Mason Probst was meet champion in the pole vault. In javelin, Will Vanderweele placed 6th and in shot put Liam Jones placed 5th.
The girls also saw success in both the track and field events. Ashley Hartner placed 6th in the 800 meter run. In the 100 meter hurdles, London Mayo placed 5th. The girls 4×800 relay team were meet champions. Also claiming a first place was Mariah Rodemoyer who placed first in high jump and 3rd in the long jump. Senior Lainey Labruzzo placed 4th in pole vault and Adriana Kaizer placed 6th in javelin. Congrats to all of our athletes and best of luck against Northwestern on Wednesday April 30.
